Aug. 17 meeting on the proposed Arlington Tree Preservation Bylaw

Please come support the Arlington Tree Committee at the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, August 17, at 7:15 pm at the Selectmen’s hearing room, Town Hall, second floor, where we will discuss the urgent need  to pass a Tree Preservation Bylaw at the 2016 Arlington Town Meeting.

The Tree Committee will be proposing a set of bylaws that are principally based on existing tree bylaws in Lexington and Newton. The committee began this project after hearing from Arlington residents about the loss of beautiful, mature trees during construction. With the accelerating pace of housing development in our town, our tree canopy is in jeopardy of being lost. We have worked hard to ensure that the proposed bylaws strike a reasonable balance between tree preservation and homeowners’ needs.
