The Accolade Elm has been named Urban Tree of the Year for 2012 by the Society of Municipal Arborists. Accolade (TM) is the trade name and ‘Morton’ is the cultivar name for this hybrid Asian elm tree. Accolade’s parents are Ulmus japonica and U. wilsoniana, and it’s this hybrid that jump-started the Morton Arboretum’s elm improvement program in 1972.
